Doll Baby Christmas Present

Oh My, Am I getting myself too deep into Christmas? For years in my house we have not 'done' the presents and decorations -- seems boys are not so interested in this holiday, well, lets say, MY Boys are not interested.

I have become closer to my neices in the last couple of years, even though they live in a different city and therefore, their children, a set of twins coming up on 3 years of age, a 7 year old and a little one, just heading toward 2. They are the cutest little girls. I have never really known little girls before, so buying girl presents and making things for them is truly a new experience for me -- and SO Fun!

I happened to read the blog Crazy Mom Quilts and she is making doll quilts and pillow cases so even though I did not follow her tutorial, I created a quilt and pillow for my great-nieces' dolls, the quilt is similar in each case (I already wrapped the other one and just remembered in time to take a picture of this one!) The quilt measures 18" x 14" and is flannel ontop and quilting cotton (the tweety bird design underneath) I did not use a batting because I wanted to keep it light, but I did quilt it in a simple reducing square, the lines are about 2 inches apart, the pillow itself is a couple of 5" x 7" pieces of white broadcloth sewn and stuffed with a poly batting and the pillow case measures about 5 1/2" x 8" and is again the tweety fabric with another scrap of flannelette from my stash....

Now I am debating going through my 'files' to see if I can find a cloth doll pattern to go with the quilt and pillow!
